Our Skill Share Labs create space for people to teach and learn from each other. These sessions center practical skills, lived experience, and mutual support. We believe community grows when people show up, share what they know, and listen with respect.
Bright also operates as a volunteer Kindness Collective. We bring people together through small acts of care, shared skills, and joyful gatherings that help Evansville feel more connected and more human.
The Bright Kindness Collective puts care into action. Volunteers come together for simple projects that make a real impact, from neighborhood support to creative pop ups and community care efforts. No grand gestures required. Just people doing the thing together. Message us to find out how you can join in!
Bright exists to strengthen local connection, reduce isolation, and remind people that kindness is not passive. It is something we practice, build, and share.
Some of us plan events. Some of us build relationships and bring people together. Some of us make art and tell stories. Some of us collect and distribute donations. Some of us do hands on work that keeps things moving. All of us know how to turn a good idea into a real thing.
We share the same vision, and we work well together because we care about the same outcome.
Bright stays involved in many ways that keep us connected to a diverse range of people and organizations across Evansville. This includes volunteering with community organizations that share our values and passions, such as Albion Fellows Bacon Center, Evansville Pride, Keep Evansville Beautiful, and the Tepe Park Neighborhood Association.
Bright is also a proud member of Indiana Native Plant Society, Southwestern Chapter.
BRIGHT supports local small businesses, local artists and creators, and community groups because strong communities grow from local relationships.
We believe supporting people who create, build, and share locally helps keep ideas, resources, and care circulating close to home.
We also show up by attending and participating in community gatherings, including the monthly Poetry Speaks at Bokeh Lounge. Being present in these spaces helps us stay connected, listen, and build relationships that shape the work we do and how we do it.
During its first year, Bright hosted community events focused on connection, shared experiences, and belonging.
These events included Bright Spark with Lens Magic Photography: a free photography pop up at Tepe Park, Fireflies at Sunset Water Carnival for children at Sunset Park, From Chaos to Crowns: Healing Events for Women Who’ve Been Through It, No Cost Co-op Free Resource Exchanges, the Rally for Kindness, and the Toy and Joy Free Christmas Market.
Bright’s work began as a self funded project. That allowed us to start quickly and stay community led. As the work grows, self funding is no longer sustainable. We are continuing to explore simple, transparent ways to support the work so it can continue and stay accessible.
In August 2025, Bright of Evansville became an LLC. Bright of Evansville, LLC primarily focuses on skill share. We are working hard to build spaces where neighbors can teach what they know, learn what they need, and leave with more confidence and more connection. Bright is building toward a simple idea. If you have a skill, you have something to offer. If you have a need, you belong here too.
Skill share is how we make kindness practical.
Bright of Evansville operates with a clear focus on community impact. Our work centers on connection, kindness, and people showing up for each other in practical ways. We bring people together to share skills, knowledge, and lived experience.
As a business, Bright’s skill labs incurs costs such as insurance, materials, and our website. We strive to keep skill share costs as affordable as possible by relying on volunteer presenters and donated or shared spaces. This helps reduce barriers and expand access for more people.
Bright is working to continue to reduce barriers by participating in discussions about a Regional Initiative for Skill Exchange (RISE), which promotes free and accessible skill sharing.
